About me

Hello, I'm Melanie. I work with adults and young people 16+.  

 

I have worked with young people at a sixth form college and also spent many years in higher education as a lecturer and researcher. I therefore understand the challenges faced from  the transition from school to college and college to University.  This time of life is full of anxiety about identity, sexuality, friendships and other relationships. Someone to talk to outside of family and friends can be helpful. 

 

I have also worked with a diverse range of adult clients, during my time at a bereavement service and currently at a charitable organisation.  I have been able to support them with anxiety, relationships, retirement, loss and childhood trauma. Again, being able to explore thoughts and feelings with someone who is non-judgemental and who will truly listen can start the change within you. 

I am registered with the BACP and adhere to their ethical framework.

My Approach

I offer therapeutic counselling to help you to explore what is troubling you so that over time you will be empowered to face life's current and future challenges. I provide a warm, welcoming, and confidential space for us to work together to help you gain insights into what may help to produce change for you. By listening to you, empathically and sensitively, and genuinely seeing you as an individual, we can explore and make sense of your particular concerns.  The aim is to help you to find  your own answers and unlock your potential, in order to move forward. I offer short term and long term therapy. It is important that you find the right fit with your counsellor and so I offer a free introductory brief call to see if you think we would work well together. How can we work together?

These are just some areas which you may have identified as causing you distress.  We will work together to decide on the right approach for you as an individual. You may be feeling alone with emotions which seem to be taking over your everyday life.  Sometimes just having a another person to listen and be by your side starts the process of change.
